A shared passion
Three more years of community spirit for the Hume Football Netball League

Grassroots sport plays a vital role in fostering connection and wellbeing across rural communities – offering a safe space for kids and adults to grow, learn and make lasting friendships.

The GrainCorp Community Foundation recognises this and GrainCorp has renewed support as Major Sponsor to the Hume Football Netball League until 2027.

Founded in 1933, the Hume Football Netball League is home to 12 clubs across southern New South Wales and north-east Victoria.

Each weekend from April to September, these clubs bring together hundreds of senior and junior players, supporters and volunteers, showcasing the region’s passion for football and netball.

Many of the league’s members hail from farming families, making it an integral part of the rural lifestyle.

The League’s President, Phil Bouffler, says footy and netball weekends are the heart of the community.

“They bring people together in a way nothing else can,” says Phil.

“Our clubs are about more than winning, they’re about fostering pride, connection and a sense of belonging in our towns – and GrainCorp’s sponsorship helps make that possible.”

Phil emphasizes the importance of the league to farming families in particular.

“For many of our members, the league provides a much-needed break from the demands of farming life, giving people the chance to connect with others, support one another, and create lasting memories” says Phil.

“Clubs are often the heart of their towns, and they play a crucial role in keeping our rural communities vibrant,” Phil says.

Junior competitions are especially vital – developing not only future athletes but also fostering confidence, teamwork, and resilience — essential qualities on and off the field.

GrainCorp’s Community Engagement Manager, Kyle Docherty, says it’s a privilege to support the Hume Football Netball League and the work they do for their clubs and communities.

“This partnership is about creating opportunities for connection and ensuring these clubs can continue to inspire for future generations.”
